BEST Twist Endings...

I LOVE twist ending! I love the feeling I get when the plot of the movie makes a completely unexpected turn leaving you in shock and awe. With that being said, I decided to make a list of the best twist ending movies and let me tell you it was a hard list to make. There are so many great twist ending movies out there, but I feel I did a pretty good job. Here are my top 5 favorite movies with the coolest twist endings. (FYI spoil alert)

5. The Sixth Sense (1999)

THE SET-UP: A young boy (Haley Joel Osment) who – say it with me – sees dead people gets help from his child psychologist Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) whose marriage is so in shambles, he seems barely visible to his wife.

THE TWIST?
Well, now we know why – Crowe was dead all along!

4. Psycho
(1960)

THE SET-UP: Two people investigate Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins), the owner of the Bates Motel, after an acquaintance (Janet Leigh) is brutally murdered in the shower by the owner’s mother.

THE TWIST?
A boy’s best friend might be his mother, but the taxidermy-loving Norman took it one step too far: After having killed her years before, Norman – suffering from a spit personality – literally put himself in his dead mother’s shoes and murdered his guest.

3. Fight Club (1999)

THE SET-UP: A mild-mannered insomniac (
Edward Norton) and soap salesman Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) begin a fight club that turns destructive when Durden uses the club – renamed “Project Mayhem: - to vandalize the city.

THE TWIST?
The insomniac and the salesman are the SAME person!

2. Primal Fear
(1996)

THE SET-UP: Courtroom thriller about a slick, hot-shot lawyer, Martin Vail (
Richard Gere) who takes the seemingly unwinnable case of a young, stuttering, altar boy, Aaron (Edward Norton) accused of murdering a catholic priest. Aaron becomes Roy, his split personality. Roy is a confident, tough-talking sociopath who dishes up the truth about the sex-deviate priest who abused Aaron and others.

THE TWIST?
The twist comes into play as you try to figure out who to believe and who is real. After the case closes, and all is won for our psychologically challenged protagonist, he lets it slip to his lawyer that it was all just a game that he played for fun and murder. No stutter. No split personality. Oh, and there never was an Aaron. He made that up too.

1. The Usual Suspects
(1995)

THE SET-UP: When a daring heist goes bad, U.S. Customs officer Dave Kujan (
Chazz Palminteri) questions the meek Roger 'Verbal' Kint (Kevin Spacey) – a docile con artist with cerebral palsy – and uncover the legend and lore of the elusive criminal mastermind named Keyser Soze.

THE TWIST?
With nothing to hold him on, Kujan releases Verbal from custody. As Verbal limps from the station, Kujan realized Verbal formed his entire story using words and names listed on the objects placed throughout the room. Out on the street, Verbal alters his limp into a strut, lights a cigarette and reveals himself to be Keyser Soze himself. And just like that, this confusing movie suddenly becomes one of the COOLEST movies of all time!

So I want to watch Primal Fear. Do you own it? I saw the last 5 minutes of it once and was like, "Oooh...now I need to see this movie".

I kind of liked the movie "Identity" and thought it had a good twist ending. And 'Memento' is a classic. Good list!
