The Future is Bleak as Paramount Preps a Magic 8 Ball Movie

Source: Vulture

Say it ain't so! Hollywood must really be getting desperate these days as Paramount moves forward with this ridiculous idea. Vulture states that the studio is responsible for toy-based movies; i.e. Transformers and G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra. They must be scraping the bottom of the barrel now with their preparation for a live-action adventure film based on Mattel's toy The Magic 8 Ball, a hollow, plastic sphere that upon skaking it offers affirmative, negative or non-committal answers to questions courtesy of a 8-sided die inside. This idea has me rolling me eyes while cracking me up. Really Paramount, I mean really?

Jon Gunn & John Mann will be scripting this action adventure flick that will be similar to the National Treasure movie. Maybe the Magic 8 Ball will operate as some sort of Choose-Your-Own-Adventure device which leads them on some sort of insane quest to stop people from coming up with terrible movie ideas. Either way, it sounds like the studio execs. asked the Magic 8 Ball themselves about making this movie (something a lot of studios seem to be doing lately) until it said "Outlook good." Sadly, it didn't say "HELL NO!" which is exactly what I'll tell Paramount when I don't see this movie. I mean if it was a horror flick I could see myself possibly seeing it, but not another National Treasure flick. If anyone saw the sequel you know what I'm talking about. "Just pass."

Your thoughts?
