Beautiful Boy Trailer

Source: Youtube

Beautiful Boy is an unconventional love story that begins when a married couple on the verge of separating finds out that their only son committed a mass shooting at his university before taking his own life. This heartbreaking story about love, loss, guilt and moving on brought me to tears. Usually when movies tackle a teenage murder or school shooting, most of the focus is understandably given to the victims and their families. But one thing I've always wondered about is the gunman's family and the guilt they're left to deal with. In this story we get the perspective from the gunmen's parents. I'm a huge fan of Michael Sheen and the lovely Maria Bello, so right off the bat I was intrigued, even though the subject matter is interesting enough in itself. This trailer is heavy and heartbreaking for sure, but on the flip side it also appears to be a movie about hope, courage and above all... love. Take a look.

Beautiful Boy is directed by up and coming film director Shawn Ku, and written by Michael Armbruster and Shawn Ku. Along with Sheen and Bello this movie also stars the likes of Kyle Gallner, Alan Tudyk, Moon Bloodgood and Austin Nichols. This movie is scheduled to hit theaters this Spring, May 20th 2011. It looks like a heartbreaking yet beautiful story, one I'm interested in seeing.

Interested?

I recognized the college-age boy as one who is Max Taylor's "son" on CSI:NY. Pretty good actor, too. . . .
