Taken 2 International Trailer

Source: Yahoo

"We will have our revenge"
You will definitely want to check out the first official trailer to Taken 2 - the sequel to the surprise action thriller smash hit staring Liam Neeson. I was surprised when I heard they were making a sequel, yet excited at the same time. Now after seeing this rad trailer I'm even more excited. Yes, it's a lot of the same song and dance, but who cares. This. Looks. Awesome. It's time for the retired CIA operative Bryan Mills to come out of "hiding" and show those bad men who's really boss. This should be a cool treat for fans with plenty of thrills and action to be had by all. Take a look.

Taken 2 is a sequel to the surprise 2008 action hit starring Liam Neeson and directed by french filmmaker Olivier Megaton (of Colombiana and Transporter 3 previously). In Istanbul, retired CIA operative Bryan Mills (Neeson) and his wife (Famke Janssen) - didn't they get divorced? - are taken hostage by the father of a kidnapper Mills killed while rescuing his daughter (Maggie Grace) in the first film. 20th Century Fox is bringing this action thriller to theaters everywhere on October 5, 2012.

Happy 49th Birthday, Johnny Depp!

For a man pushing 50, Mr. John Christopher Depp II has got it going on! Here's to one of Hollywood's most talented, versatile, crazy, down to Earth actors. Spanning from 21 Jump Street to Dark Shadows, this chameleon has done it all. He embodies every role he takes - transcending them if you will. He's done a fantastic job of making a career out of playing odd ball, lovable characters. And he does it with such grace and humility too, which is why he is one of the most beloved actors in the business.

He definitely oozes charm and charisma in everything he says and does, and we love him for that. But what's even more impressive is that he has the ability to make us forget we’re even watching a Johnny Depp movie. A true talent. You can definitely see he thoroughly enjoys his craft. (To bask in the world of all things Johnny click here)

He is without doubt one of my all time favorite actors and I look forward to seeing what's in store for him in the future. Thanks Johnny, for bringing us some of the best entertainment and talent Hollywood has to offer. Hats off to you!

Some of my all time favorite Depp movies include: Chocolat, Blow, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Benny & Joon, and the forever classic Edward Scissorhands, just to name a few. The birthday boy is currently filming The Lone Ranger, which will be released some time next year, 2013. It was also just announced that Depp will be reprising his most famous role as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 5 (released date unknown at this time).

What are some of your favorite Depp films?

Prometheus Review

We haven't seen a Ridley Scott movie in a while, much less a good one. And while his latest efforts aren't amazing, the film is still pretty decent in scale and visuals. Returning to the "Alien" world (a non-confirmed prequel to the 1979 movie Alien), Prometheus' main focus draws us away from those acid for blood, vicious monsters to, instead, beg the never-ending question: "Where did we come from/who made us?"

The plot rolls like so: Two scientists (
Noomi Rapace and Logan Marshall-Green) discover a similar celestial patterns in cave drawings across the world and pinpoint its deep-space source. A few years later, in 2093, a discovery mission is launched. Piloted by laid-back Janek (Idris Elba) and run by icy, cold-hearted Meredith Vickers (Charlize Theron). Its passengers include assorted co-pilots and science types. And no "Alien" movie would be complete without their android. David (Michael Fassbender) is a fearless and a much more sarcastic driod than the others. The crew soon find what they are seeking, bad things happen, fights break out and lives are lost.

The first half of the film grabs you tight with intrigue, but soon loosens up in its second half. At first the film has you thinking, "wow, I don't think I've seen a movie this year so beautifully shot." The 3D visuals are definitely impressive, added one or two great performances. It's just a shame Prometheus crumbles to an "um... what?" in its second half. It simply asks more questions than can be answered. And they’re not small plot questions either. It's almost as if Ridley devoted too much time and energy to the look and feel of his film (which is amazing, by the way) that he completely forgot about the main plot.I grew up with the Alien movies. I'm huge fan, which is why I thought this movie would be amazing. And while it was in so many ways - definitely a great Sci-Fi flick - it just fell short, leaving an unsettled taste in my mouth. So while I wasn't blown away, by any stretch of the imagination, I was definitely entertained. And on Ridley's scale Prometheus is a tremendous and unexpected ride. It's definitely worth seeing in 3D.

Snow White and the Huntsman Review

In what right world does Kristen Stewart beat Charlize Theron? Oh yeah, the make-believe, never-gonna-happen, fairytale kind of world. The two team up in this years (over played) Snow White and the Huntsman, and director Rupert Sanders (mostly known for commercials) spins a very dark and gothic take on the classic fairytale. And while the scenery in this film is magnificent in scale, added cleaver special effects, the movie drags and tends to tire quickly in its disappointing second half.

The film's most exciting draw is the evil, menacing, Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron). Thorone definitely tears it up, offering a suitably maniacal portrayal of a woman who sees her outer beauty as a source of great power. Bathing in white liquid and crawling out of a pit of black tar are two of the film’s most striking visions. And speaking of visions, each and every costume she wore was breathtaking. While I don't see this movie taking home the Oscar for Best Picture, I can definitely see it winning for Best Costume Design. The film also gives us a peak into Queen Revenna's past, revealing why she has become so wicked, which I didn't particularly care for. We should loath the evil Queen, not feel sorry for her.

As for Snow White (Kristen Stewart), she’s been beautifully reinvented as both majestic maiden and fierce warrior. However, to pull this type of strong heroinism off it requires a confident, well-grounded portrayal. Obviously Stewart’s characteristics fail completely (duh). Sadly, Snow White too often resembles the ever-pouting, overwhelmed, one-note Bella Swan.

While there was some chemistry between Snow and the Huntsman (Chris Hemsworth), there was absolutely no chemistry between Snow and her prince (Sam Claflin), which was disappointing. But the real problem, ultimately, lies in the story arc, which requires a "Joan of Arc" type transformation from its heroine - one that Stewart could not make happen. The film spirals from intriguing to (semi) action packed and many of the characters and story-lines – especially the dwarf's – are left malnourished and forgotten. The real
heroine in this fairytale is Theron - she is the only one who fully captivates the audience throughout the entire film.

Over all SWATH isn't the worst movie ever, but I wanted more - more action, stronger character development, romance, better acting (ahem, Stewart, Hemsworth) and a firm storyline. If all of that mirrored its sunning visuals, beautiful costumes and sets, the movie would have been phenomenal. So while I was somewhat disappointed, I did find it entertaining - I definitely enjoyed it a lot more than I anticipated.RATING: D+
