Have Yourself A Merry Movie Montage Extravaganza Christmas!

Tis the season to be jolly... and curl up by the fire, while sipping on hot coccoa, and watching your favorite Christmas movies with your loved ones. There are so many excellent Christmas movies out there (my favorites include Love Actually, Home Alone & Elf), and I believe this movie montage does a decent job capturing the lot of them, including the ever so classic Charlie Brown TV special. So sit back and enjoy this fun Christmas movie extravaganza.

It's unfortunate the stores today have turned the true meaning of Christmas into a money-grubbing, cash-crop, fiascle.  I think the Grinch said it best: "Maybe Christmas, though, doesn't come from a store... Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more." May the miracle of Christmas fill your hearts with peace & love and joy & happiness.

*Merry Christmas to one and all*

Transcendence Trailer

Source: Website

"Imagine a machine with a full rage of human emotion."
Warner Bros has released their first full trailer for the anticipated sci-fi thriller, Transcendence, starring Johnny Depp who is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. When anti-technology extremists threaten his life, they inadvertently trigger a quick move towards his transcendence. Will’s thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power, to what end is unknown. I will say that even though this movie looks pretty rad, fresh and exciting, I'm afraid they gave too much away in the trailer. hmmm... I'll still go see it regardless. Have a look-see...
Transcendence is directed by (cinematographer on Inception and The Dark Knight trilogy) and written by Alex Paraskevas, with rewrites by Jordan Goldberg & Jack Paglen. This has an awesome All-Star cast including the likes of Morgan Freeman, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara, Cillian Murphy, Cole Hauser and Paul Bettany.  Be looking for this movie come April 18, 2014

Filmography 2013

Source: SlashFilm

I'm such a fan of these year-end, movie mash-ups. I know I've already posted two prior to this one, but I can't help myself. This video crafted by Filmography 2013 from Gen Ip just might be my favorite one yet. It's filled with inspiring tracks mingled in with this years movies like The Croods, Frozen, Upside Down, Fast & Furious 6, Thor: The Dark Work and much more. This is one fantastical piece of work. Have a look for yourself. Enjoy!

As Gen Ip says, "Words are life,' says Max in 2013's The Book Thief, and indeed they hold us together and to help us share that transcendent phenomenon that is life. This video takes 300 of this year's films and distills it into a 7-minute exploration of the ideas we keep coming back to: the purpose of life, the nature of evil, the mystery of death, the power of love, and the inevitability of time." Well said. You can find a list of all the music on the video's YouTube page right here, and a complete list of film clips over here.

Final Cut 2013 - Life Without Movies...

Source: Nick Bosworth

What would life without movies actually look like? Well, from this year-end, movie mash-up, I know what it wouldn't look like.  This stellar video from Nick Bosworth from titled Final Cut 2013 is amazing.  It's hard to disagree with his opening line "Life without movies is impossible." This is one stylish venture back in time, using 283 films from this year.  It's pretty impressive to say the least. We see clips from This is The End to Dallas Buyers Club, The Great Gastby Review, 12 Years a Slave, Man of Steel, Her, Fast & Furious 6, The Wolf of Wall Street, Oblivion and many more.  Even though this is just under 8 1/2 minutes, it's definitely worth your time.  See for yourself...

Here's what the video's editor, Nick Bosworth, had to say:
"It was another excellent year of cinema and we're not even done yet by a long shot. From 'Gravity' to 'Nebraska,' every genre has been re-defined with amazing new films that I have no doubt will be loved for many years to come. So in tradition as I've done for the past two years, I've put together this huge mashup of 283 films from the year for everyone to enjoy. There was plenty of sleepless nights with this one but it was all worth it in the end and I hope you all think so as well."
I love watching these year-end movie mash-ups.  Very creative and somewhat inspiring.  What did you think?

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Trailer

Source: YouTube

"We, literally, can change the world."

I was pleasantly surprised by the first movie and will be pleasantly surprised yet again if the sequel is just as good if not better. From the looks of this trailer, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be even better and more grand in size and scale. My only concern is the amount of villains this time around - honing in on a whopping 3 villains mind you (did we not learn anything from Spider-man 3). Not sure how director Marc Webb is going to pull all of this off, but I will reserve any judgment until after I see the movie.  In any case, it does look pretty rad.  Check it out...

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is directed by and written by , Jeff Pinkner and  . Peter Parker () finds, life is busier than ever between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (), high school graduation can't come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten the promise he made to Gwen's father to protect her by staying away, but that's a promise he just can't keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past. Sony will release this movie next year, May 2, 2014.

Look any good?

Universal's Touching Tribute to Paul Walker

Source: Firstshowing

It is with deep sadness that Hollywood loses one of their own in such an untimely death - Fast & Furious star . There are still plenty of fans grieving (including my little 8 year old nephew) along with the actor's close friends and family. Universal officially announced a production halt on Fast & Furious 7. There are some rumblings that the studio might start the sequel over from scratch, with several theories of how they would handle the leading actor's passing. But for now the studio gives us a touching tribute to their fallen franchise star featuring clips of Walker from all the F&F movies. I was a fan of these souped-up, high-octane movies myself and feel very sad that he's really gone.
The studio also released this statement: "Paul Walker's family appreciates the outpouring of love and goodwill from his many fans and friends. They have asked, in lieu of flowers or other gifts, that donations please be made to Paul's charity Reach Out Worldwide (ROWW). Donations can easily be made through their website at" In addition, remember that the studio is donating part of the proceeds from the Blu-Ray/DVD sales of Fast & Furious 6 (arriving on December 10th) to Walker's nonprofit charity Reach Out WorldWide. Walker founded the organization after the January 2010 Haiti earthquake, and it gathers professionals with first responder skill-sets to areas hit by natural disasters.

This Year's Retrospective - 2013

Source: Firstshowing

Is it that time already?!  Why yes it most certainly is... reflection time.  Let us journey back in time as we experience the world of film ala 2013.  I applaud The Sleepy Skunk for taking the time to put together this killer movie trailer mash-up.  And though long (clocking in just under 7 minutes), it's definitely worth your time.  It's seriously one of the best year-end mash-ups I've seen, put together flawlessly, complete with shots of Enders Game, Star Trek Into Darkness, Man of Steel, American Hustle, Captain Philips, Catching Fire and much, much more, all backed by some amazing tracks (specifically, "Save the World" (Knife Party Remix) by the Swedish House Mafia). Perfection.  So... "Shall we begin?"

For a complete list of music feel free to check out the video's YouTube page. The Sleepy Skunk will be adding a list of all the clips soon, which will be nice because there are a few films I don't even recognize. I'm sure more of these movie trailer mash-ups will come rolling in as the the days ensue.  Also, be sure to check back for my list of Best and Worst movies of the year as well.

Pretty cool, right. Tell me your thoughts...
