Summer Blockbuster HOTTIES - 2014

It's time to indulge in a pointless segment I like to call Summer Blockbuster Hotties.  This season is sizzling up ridiculously hot.  With these Top 10 Hotties infiltrating our movie theaters this summer it's going to be hard to stay away. And if Hollywood has taught us anything it is that there is definitely no shortage of stunning beauties in their mist. Don't believe me? Take a look for yourself. Warning: May cause third degree burns. Enjoy!

*Lip-Smackin' Man Candy*

Brenton Thwaites

Meet the talented and, ahem, gorgeous Aussie. The 24 year old isn't exactly famous yet, but with that charming smile and that sweet yet sultry, twinkly gaze it's only a matter of time before he reaches "prince" status. He even played one in Maleficent, which is currently in theaters. He takes the lead in a few sci-fi thrillers as well - The Signal, out now, which is receiving rave reviews, and The Giver, out August 15th. Trust me he's definitely going to be a huge star.

Up next: Ride is a story about how a mother travels cross-country to California to be with her son after he decides to drop out of school and become a surfer. Release date: November 2014.

"Say hi to your motha for me."  As you wish, Marky-Mark.  Rapper turned actor certainly made the right career move. With his sultry gaze and that incredible smile all of which can render females helpless in a matter of seconds, it's clear the 43 year old has still got it. Mr. Abs for Days is definitely a thing of beauty and embodies style and grace with the up-most confidence and humility. Don't miss him kick a little robot butt, all while saving the world from mass destruction in this summer's blockbuster - Transformers: Age of Extinction, out now.

Up Next: Mojave, where he will play a suicidal artist goes into the desert, where he finds his doppelgänger, a homicidal drifter.  Out later this year.

Michael Fassbender
This German born hottie has this kind of charismatic and sexy way about himself that one can't fully quantify or analyze. It has to do with a sincerity and clarity that makes you see something fantastic in him. The tall drink of water has looks and talent, no question. Two words: Yes. Please. If you haven't seen him in X-Men: Days of Future Past, which is out now, you most definitely do not want to miss out. It's an excellent movie!

Up Next: Slow West follows a 17-year-old boy on a journey across 19th Century frontier America in search of the woman he loves, while accompanied by mysterious traveler Silas. Out later this year.

Channing Tatum
It's no wonder this all American boy (and new dad) made the cut... yet again. I mean duh. With a killer body that just won't quit and a charming persona, it's near impossible to ignore this smokin' hot actor. Sorry ladies, he's taken, as in married (Not that that means much in Hollywood these days though, but still). Don't miss him in his latest comedy - 22 Jump Street, which is in theaters now.

Up Next: Book of Life is the journey of Manolo, a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart. In theaters October 17th.

Jason Statham
Time to fall in love with Handsome Rob all over again... and again.  This British heart-throb is for sure one delicious piece of lip-smacking man-candy, and a nice addition to our summer blockbuster hotties.  This dark and brooding actor definitely oozes sex appeal, no question. It's clear he ceases to have trouble with the ladies.  I would say don't miss him in The Expendables 3, out August 3rd, but I won't because those movies are well,... dumb.

Up Next: He plays Ian Shaw in Fast & Furious 7, a man who seeks revenge against Dominic Toretto and his crew for the death of his brother. Release date: April 10, 2015.

*Mouth Watering Bombshells*

Megan Fox

The answer is in the name. This foxy mouth watering bombshell oozes sex appeal whether she’s pumping gas at the gas station or sexing it up on the red carpet. We've always known that she's a hit with the men-folk, but I was surprised at how quickly she has made an impact on women - they consider her to have one of the most coveted celebrity bodies around (me included). It's hard to believe she's already a mother of two. They need a new word for how hot this sex-kitten really is.  If you're a fan of ninja's and turtles and Megan Fox be sure to check her out in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, out August 8th.

Up Next: Nothing on the foreseeable horizon.  But whatever it is you can bet it'll be smokin' hot.

Emily Blunt

This sparkling diamond is one classic beauty. Aside from being absolutely stunning with her huge, innocent baby blues and flawless, milky skin, this British babe is one of the more down-to-earth actresses Hollywood has to offer. She has this girl-next-door vibe to her, yet can definitely vamp it up HOT on the red carpet. She amazed us in the action flick, Edge of Tomorrow, which is an incredible movie, surprisingly.

Up Next: Into the Woods is a story about a witch who conspires to teach important lessons to various characters of popular children's stories including Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk and Rapunzel. In theaters Christmas Day.

Nicola Peltz
The barely legal blond bombshell is emerging  as a force to be reckoned with, on both the big and small screen.  She is one of the greatest up and coming ladies Hollywood has to offer. She's completely charming, humble and sweet. What's not to love about this 19 year old New York Native. She's definitely one of the hottest girls in film, no question. There are few girls out there as sexy and fun as her.  Don't miss her team up with Wahlberg as they save the world in Transformers: Age of Extinction, out now. Then on July 11th she'll star in Affluenza.

Up Next: Stay tuned...

Jessica Alba
This sweet and stunning beauty is so hot even she's annoyed.
I’m sure it must be difficult to be taken seriously in Hollywood with that curvaceous body. But don't worry, I’m sure she’ll be fine. If the acting thing doesn't pan out the wife and mother of two runs a highly successful business - The Honest Co.. This gorgeous vixen can seriously pull off any look and get away with it. She's for sure beyond the hotness. You don't want to miss her move like liquid in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, which hits theaters August 22nd (ahem, two days after MY Birthday).

Up Next: The Veil is a horror movie that takes place thirty years after members of a religious cult committed mass suicide, the lone survivor returns to the scene of the tragedy with a documentary crew in tow. Release date:  Sometime next year.

Charlize Theron

As a rule, I would say most men want to date her while most women want to be her. This long-legged BEAUTIFUL bombshell exudes confidence and strength in everything she does.  With her vivacious sex appeal, those piercing, stunning blue eyes, that deep husky voice, it's no wonder people all over the world are drawn to her.  She busts out her comedic skills in this summer's smash hit - A Million Ways to Die in the West, currently in theaters. She will also star in Dark Places, out September 1st.

Up Next: Mad Max: Fury Road is a remake of an apocalyptic story set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life.  Out sometime next year.

Remember, in order to make the cut these fine human-beings need to match some criteria:
A. They must headline a summer blockbuster (May-September).
B. They must be smokin' HOT.
C. They have to be "cool" in real life (in other words, no d-bags).

So there ya have it folks. Did your hottie make/not make the cut? Share your comments with me below.

How to Train Your Dragon 2

"This is Berk. The best kept secret this side of, well, anywhere." Says Hiccup. It's definitely this summer's best animated film, filled with heart and soul. You will leave the theater beaming. I seriously cannot say enough good things about this movie.  I loved it so much! And with Vikings on the backs of dragons this time around, the world just got a whole lot bigger and better.

With a more complex storyline than its predecessor, I felt it delivered on every account. And I even went in with high expectations, which were easily met on every level and then some - that doesn't happen too often, but when it does it's a thing of beauty. With an extremely well written script (four years in the making), rich with incredible character development and stunning animation, all of which surpassed the original, how can you go wrong.  How to Train Your Dragon 2, along with any sequel for that matter, easily could have played it safe by merely repeating the original's formula (ahem, Home Alone 2 anyone?). However, it opted instead to further the story by introducing fascinating new characters while giving us the ones we have come to know and love. These lovable characters are now 5 years older, though, and have been exploring new places and new territories over the years.

Basically HTTYD was brought to the next incredible level filled with more emotion, intensity, action, adventure, humor, and depth.  It's safe to say this is one of the best sequels Hollywood has produced in a very long time. Plus it speaks volumes to any age group.

HTTYD2 is a phenomenal movie, one of the best I've seen all year, and will no doubt snag an  Academy Award for best animated film.  John Powell returned to score the film, which has become one of my all time favorites.  Though not as enchanting as the original, it's still a valiant effort.  I wouldn't be surprised if he was nominated again.

I was fully engaged with excitement, grinning ear to ear the entire two plus hours. When it was over, I immediately wanted to see it again.  If you were fan of the original, I strongly recommend seeing this movie (in theaters if possible). Your heart will soar.

The Fault in Our Stars Review

The Fault in Our Stars was absolutely lovely from beginning to end. It also marks the rare occasion where the movie was actually better than the book, even though some fans might disagree - mostly teenagers though (psh, what do they know). Where the book dragged, the movie picked up and moved it right along with effortless ease. I loved that it stayed pretty true to the source material as well.

Both book and film are narrated by Hazel (), a 16-year old who totes an oxygen tank, who nearly died at 13, and knows her days are numbered.  It's not too long after joining a cancer support group, a group her mother strongly encouraged her to join, that she meets Gus (), a tall, dark and handsome boy who has lost a leg to Osteosarcoma, who - you guessed it - she falls for instantly. The two embark on a wild adventure filled with first-time love, devotion and hope.

The two main characters were perfectly cast. While Woddley portrays Hazel flawlessly with her smart and funny yet cold demeanor, it was Elgort who really steals the show and our hearts. His charming humor, positivity, grace and wit will seriously have you eating out of the palm of his hand in no time.

This "one sick love story" is a sharp and emotionally-charged weepie romance for the teenage market, yet it tackles its bleak subject matter with respect, warmth, tenderness and heart.

X-Men: Days of Future Past Review

There’s just something cool about a prequel. It’s always interesting seeing how the story really began. And when done right a prequel can sometimes surpass a sequel.      And while X-Men: Days of Future Past doesn't quite match the success of X2, it ends up being a worthy contender and manages to deliver one powerful punch.  It certainly helps that director is back in toe. I'm not talking about the guy who brought us those snooze-fest, stinkers like Superman Returns and Jack the Giant Slayer, but rather the director who brought us the amazing Usual Suspects, X1 and X2.

For those who don't know (ahem: where've you been), this movie is a time travel movie, and more times than not (save a few) time travel movies tend to lack in every possible, confusing way.  But in this case the time travel logic is sounds, thought out and makes perfect sense.

The film largely does what it sets out to do, by turning out another crowd-pleasing comic-book film designed to bring in new fans while satisfying the old ones.  With its mind-boggling premise and jaw-dropping cast, Days Of Future Past meets every great expectation. You will not be disappointed with the action sequences, costumes, set designs and the ever so stellar special effects. It's essentially one big jigsaw, which fits together beautifully in a wondrous puzzle in the end.

It features a masterful blend of humor, wit, wisdom and fun character development.  But what I liked most about this film was the underlining massage that not everyone is always 100% bad, nor 100% good.  We have a little of both in all of us.  And much like Marvel's latest movies the source materials are topics that are still relevant in the world today.
RATING: B+
