The Light Between Oceans Trailer

Studiocanal UK has debuted their first trailer for The Light Between Oceans, starring Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander (LOVE her). The film is set in Australia years after WWI.  It's about a couple who rescues a small baby that washes ashore and how they raise her as their own. This film is based on the book by M.L Stedman of the same title.  And while I didn't love the book, I have a sneaky suspicion I will fall in love the movie. This trailer makes the story seems remarkably beautiful.  It's a heart-breaking story, filled with love and sacrifice. The rest of the cast includes Rachel Weisz, Benedict Hardie and Emily Barclay. This looks truly wonderful, a true Book to Film Adaptation that appears to fly off the pages rather effortlessly. The score is already so dazzling, giving me chills filled with emotions. The Light Between Oceans is both written and directed by American filmmaker Derek Cianfrance, (Brother Tied, Blue Valentine and A Place Beyond the Pines previously). It's based on the extraordinary best-selling novel of the same name written by M.L Stedman. Disney/DreamWorks will release Cianfrance's The Light Between Oceans in theaters on September 2, 2016.

Honest Trailers - The Oscars 2016

Yes, it's Oscar Week!  With my favorite day of the year coming this weekend, Screen Junkies is serving up some video montage realness filled with many hilarious reasons why the Best Picture nominees 'really' got nominated. The Academy presents this mega-Honest Trailer featuring The Martian, Room, Bridge of Spies, The Revenant, The Big Short, Brookyln, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Spotlight. I'm such of fan of these guys.  I love everything Screen Junkies puts together, and this is no exception. If you need a little recap before Sunday's festivities, or you just want a good laugh, by all means check this out.  Enjoy!

It's been a long while since the Oscars have been 'this' unpredictable, and I like it! I love Oscar Week! With only a few days to go you bess get your Oscar pools ready. Despite the arguments, debates, and discussion about who did not get nominated, the selection of Academy Award nominees for 2016 is still impressive. This is yet another excellent well-crafted video montage from Vic Rincon, featuring this year's nominees for Best Costume Design. Sandy Powell will most likely win for Carol. Interesting fact; the three-time Oscar winner is the costume designer behind both front-runners, Carol and Cinderella.  While I hope Cinderella wins, I'm leaning more towards Carol. Either way it looks like Powell will go home a winner.  Have a look-see...

Pete's Dragon Teaser

"He says he wasn't alone..."

Another day, another remake. Disney has unleashed their first teaser for their remake of Pete's Dragon. I LOVED the original! I grew up on it. It was charming, light and fantastically fun. I was a little annoyed when I first got wind of this remake.  Logically speaking, I don't quite understand the point of it, but it's Hollywood, baby.  'Nough said. The film is about an orphaned boy named Pete and his best friend Elliott, a giant lovable green dragon. While the original played for laughs, the remake seems altogether more "realistic" and a little too serious. The cast includes Oakes Fegley as Pete, and Bryce Dallas Howard, Robert Redford, Karl Urban, Wes Bentley, Oona Laurence and Isiah Whitlock Jr. This teaser actually seems like a young Tarzan or The Jungle Book, but it's still intriguing. I love how they're keeping the dragon hidden and mysterious for now, which is fine for a teaser. In fact, I'm hoping we don't get much more than this till the actual movie. Keep it a mystery, Disney! Anyway, take a look...

For years, old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) has delighted local children with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales…until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley). Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliott. And from Pete’s descriptions, Elliott seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham’s stories. With the help of Natalie (Oona Laurence - LOVE her), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill. Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon. This film is directed by David Lowery, and Disney will release Pete's Dragon on August 12, 2016 (ahem, BEST month ever!).

Zoolander 2 Review

Was there a good enough reason to continue the story almost a decade after the fact? The correct answer is not really. However, Zoolander 2 does manage to produce just enough entertainment value to be somewhat enjoyable. It was incredibly off-the-wall ridiculous that, at times, it wasn't all that bad. And despite the recycled jokes and the deadbeat script I'm still glad I saw it, but I most certainly wouldn't recommend paying full price to see it. If you're a huge Zoolander fan (like myself) I would wait and Redbox it.  

Directed and produced by Ben Stiller, we start our story off discovering that Zoolander and his former rival model Hansel (Owen Wilson) haven't been doing so well over the years. In fact, they are in celebrity-social ruins and go back to hating each other. But rest assure, the story soon unites the fashionista parodies for more crazy-town adventures.  

The plot is absolutely scatterbrained. While the first film had a clear focus - Derek being brainwashed to kill the Malaysian Prime Minister - everything in the sequel is all over the place bonkers. At times they're looking for the assassins, other times they're just trying to do fashion, sometimes they want to find Derek's son, and other times they're just spoofing international espionage thrillers. Zoolander 2 is an explosion of ideas that Stiller and his creative team didn't bother to focus on or develop.  While I did find myself laughing quite a bit, mostly at scenes that made me say; "I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!", in the end, I've had better.

The Huntsman: Winter's War Trailer 2

Universal has unveiled their second trailer for The Huntsman Winter's War, directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan. This is the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman. This live-action, fantasy fairy-tale gone mad stars the likes of Chris Hemsworth as The Huntsman, a man stuck in the middle of a battle between the evil Queen and her sister Freya, the Ice Queen, played by Emily Blunt (LOVE her!). This high budget studio sequel also stars Jessica Chastain as Sara and reprising her role as the evil Queen Ravanna is Charlize Theron. I love how the industry is finally making more and more movies with strong female leads! This trailer, as its own entity, looks fanatical, dazzling and magical. While the movie may not hold a candle to the likes of its two trailers, at least they are gorgeous works of art. Have a look-see!...
The strangely whimsical world of Snow White and the Huntsman continues to  unravel to reveal just how the fates of The Huntsman, Eric and evil Queen Ravenna are deeply and dangerously intertwined. Long before the evil Queen Ravenna (Theron) was thought to have been bested by Snow White's blade, she watched silently as her sister, Freya (Blunt), suffered a heart-wrenching betrayal and fled their kingdom. With Freya's ability to freeze any enemy, the young ice queen has spent decades in a remote wintry palace raising a legion of deadly huntsmen - including Eric (Hemsworth) and warrior Sara (Chastain) - only to find that her prized two warriors defied her one demand: Forever harden your hearts to love. Universal releases this movie on April 22, 2016.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice final trailer

 "It's a three syllable word for any thought too big for little minds."

Another day, another trailer.  Warner Bros. has unleashed their final trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and thank goodness! Somehow the industry has it in their heads we want to see the movie before we actually see the movie - mystery goes a long way (but that's neither here nor there). What they should have done is release 'this' trailer as their second and final trailer instead of all the others.  It's been a whirlwind of emotions regarding this movie too.  First I was excited (thanks, teaser), then I lost interest (thanks, trailers 1 & 2), and now I'm kind of on board again. I still maintain there are entirely too many villains and heroes. It just seems too convoluted for its own good, but again, this movie 'is' setting up the stage for Justice League, so it's expected.  I will hold all my reservations until after I see the movie. Regardless, this is a superb, well-crafted trailer all on its own.  Take a look...

Zack Snyder's sequel in the DC Comics Universe will bring back Henry Cavill (swoon) as Superman and introduces Ben Affleck as Batman. Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane are all reprising their roles from Man of Steel, while more new additions include Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred (adore him), and Holly Hunter in a role newly created for the film. Jason Momoa will also appear as Aquaman (yum). Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters March 25, 2016. "Remembering everything doesn't mean you know everything."

This superlative TV spot brings us back into the high-intensity world that is Jason Bourne. If you watched Superbowl 50 last night then you know all about it.  Universal released their first teaser for Jason Bourne - the new sequel starring Matt Damon, just nine years after Ultimatum.  This. Looks. Awesome. Damon is also credited on the screenplay, which means he's fully invested. This Bad-A film also stars Alicia Vikander (currently my favorite celeb.), Julia Stiles, Tommy Lee Jones, Vincent Cassel and Riz Ahmed. Can't wait to see the full trailer! But to be honest, I really don't need to see anymore footage.  I'm ALL in! Take a look and enjoy!

Matt Damon returns to his most iconic role in Jason Bourne. Paul Greengrass, the director of The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum, once again joins Damon for the next chapter in Universal Pictures' Bourne franchise, which finds the CIA’s most lethal former operative drawn out of the shadows. Damon is joined by Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel and Tommy Lee Jones, while Julia Stiles reprises her role in the series. Frank Marshall again produces alongside Jeffrey Weiner for Captivate Entertainment, and Greengrass, Damon, Gregory Goodman and Ben Smith also produce. This year is a hard-hitting race, no question. There are a slew of extremely impressive talent to consider. But it's safe to say the top two contenders for Best Cinematography are Emmanuel Lubezki and Roger Deakins. While I think Deakins should win, my money is on Lubezki who shot using only natural light. 2016 Oscar Prections - We All Dream In Gold

It's Christmas in tinsel town! With only a few weeks away the countdown is on!  Oscar night is the biggest and most prestigious night in the glamorous world of Hollywood, and I look forward to it every year! Ah yes, nothing like cramming a room full of over-privileged beauties, who have everything and awarding them with gold trophies. (sigh) With Chris Rock as our host we're bound for some hilarious laughs! Hiring a comedian is a very wise decision. I actually like Chris Rock and I think he'll deliver with thunderous applause. #Ihope  It can't be any worst than last year, right. #PoorNealPatrickHarris.

It's only a matter of time before we know who the winners are for sure, but for now we shall speculate. It's been a really tight race this year, which I love. While there are a few shoe-ins (ahem, Leo), the rest have been a hard-hitting guessing game. With that said here are my (main) picks for the big glitzy-glam night.
